Groups intervene against CCA appeal
(Published December 6, 1999)
The United Communities Coalition Against a Prison and the Wingate Tenants Association filed notice with the D.C. Court of Appeals Nov. 29 of their intent to participate in court proceedings surrounding the Corrections Corp. of America’s request to overturn the D.C. Zoning Commission’s denial of zoning that would allow a prison to be built in Ward 8.
The notice, filed by attorney Richard B. Nettler in behalf of the two groups, noted their status as parties to the original zoning commission proceedings. Both groups are opposed to CCA’s efforts to build a prison at Oxon Cove to house D.C. prisoners.
