School officials announce commencement schedule

About 2,400 D.C. public school seniors will say goodbye to their alma maters during the next two weeks as graduation ceremonies get underway at the city’s high schools.

D.C. Public Schools officials recently announced the commencement schedule, which includes 22 senior high ceremonies to be held June 7-18.

Wilson Senior High will graduate the largest class of seniors this year, with 479 students eligible to receive diplomas. The second largest class, at Eastern Senior High, numbers 299.

The smallest class of seniors will receive their diplomas from Oakhill Academy, the city’s juvenile detention center in suburban Maryland, where six students have completed graduation requirements.

The schedule of graduation ceremonies, as announced by school officials, follows.

•ANACOSTIA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 10 a.m. June 9 at Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium, Sixth and Fairmont streets NW.

•BALLOU: 3 p.m. June 12 at Cramton Auditorium.

•BALLOU STAY: 6 p.m. June 10 at Lincoln Theater, 1215 U St. NW.

•BANNEKER: 5 p.m. June 10 at Cramton Auditorium,

•BELL MULTICULTURAL: 6 p.m. June 12 at Cramton Auditorium.

•CARDOZO: 10 a.m. June 11 at Cramton Auditorium.

•COOLIDGE: 3 p.m. June 16 at Cramton Auditorium.

•DUNBAR: 10 a.m. June 10 at Cramton Auditorium.

•EASTERN: 7 p.m. June 11 at Constitution Hall, 17th Street NW between C and D streets.

•ELLINGTON SCHOOL OF THE ARTS: 6:30 p.m. June 12 at Ellington, 1698 35th St. NW.

•MOORE ACADEMY: 10 a.m. June 11 at Catholic University, 620 Michigan Ave. NE.

•PHELPS: 6 p.m. June 11 at Cramton Auditorium.

•ROOSEVELT: 6 p.m. June 13 at Cramton Auditorium.

•SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS: 10 a.m. June 12 at George Washington Univer-sity’s Lisner Auditorium, 21st and H streets NW.

•SPINGARN: 10 a.m. June 13 at Cramton Auditorium.

•SPINGARN STAY: 2:30 p.m. June 9 at Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Ave. NW.

•M.M. WASHINGTON: 2 p.m. June 10 at Cramton Auditorium.

•WILSON: 10 a.m. June 11 at Constiution Hall.

•OAK HILL ACADEMY: 2 p.m. June 18 at oak Hill, 3201 oak Hill Drive, Laurel, Md.

•MAMIE D. LEE: 9:30 a.m. June 7 at Mamie D. Lee, 100 Gallatin St. NE.

•SHARPE HEALTH SCHOOL: 10 a.m. June 14 at Sharpe Health, 4300 13th St. NW.

D.C. junior high and middle school students also will participate in "promotion exercises" during the next two weeks. Most of those ceremonies are scheduled to take place on June 13 and 14 at the respective schools, although five schools have scheduled the ceremonies at off-campus locations.
