City to suspend some services for Christmas, New Year's Day
(Published December 1, 2003)

City officials have announced there will be no street sweeping, parking enforcement, booting and towing, littercan service, leaf vacuuming or trash and recyclables service on Christmas, Dec. 25, or on New Year's Day, Jan. 1.

All trash and recyclables collection will be delayed one day due to the holidays.
The Department of Public Works is urging residents who normally receive city trash collection service to put holiday trees - without ornaments or tinsel - on tree lawns in front of their residences by Jan. 4.

Trees will be picked up during a special one-week collection from Jan. 5-10. Officials said that residents who wish to keep their trees longer should put them out at their normal point of trash collection (curbside or alley) after Jan. 10. Trash trucks will then collect the trees with the regular trash, as space in trucks permits over the following weeks.
