Bell Atlantic to hike rate on 3 services

(Published November 29, 1999)

The D.C. Public Service Commission recently granted Bell Atlantic-Washington, D.C., Inc.'s request to increase rates for consumers who purchase additional listings, call waiting and three-way calling.

The Public Service Com-mission ruling, which became effective Nov. 12, allows Bell Atlantic to increase the monthly charge to both residential and business customers for additional listings by 14.7 percent. That takes the monthly fee for each extra listing from $1.50 to $1.72.

The PSC also granted a 14.7 percent increase in the monthly fees Bell Atlantic charges for call waiting and a 12.5 percent increase in monthly fees for three-way calling. Increases for these two services will apply only to residential customers in the District.

Call waiting charges will increase from $4.75 to $5.45 per month. Three-way calling charges will go from $4 to $4.50 per month.

In a final rulemaking notice published Nov. 12 in the D.C. Register, the PSC said it received no public comments in response to Bell Atlantic's application to increase the rates. The PSC published its notice of intent to grant the rate increases in the D.C. Register on Aug. 20.
