Neighborhood Action continues Jan. 27

(Published January 10, 2000)

The second phase of Mayor Anthony A. Williamsí Neighborhood Action Initiative will kick off Jan. 27 with a program aimed at mobilizing government, business, nonprofit organizations and the faith community.

The follow-up forum will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the University of the District of Columbiaís main gymnasium in Building 47. UDC is located at 4200 Connecticut Ave. NW.

The first half of the forum will be devoted to the mayor and agency directors presenting modifications that have been made to the Citywide Strategic Plan and outlining actions that have been taken as a result of the Nov. 20 Citizen Summit.

The second portion of the forum will allow residents to break into neighborhood groups to begin planning neighborhood forums to be held in the spring.

The UDC forum will be supported by the polling-keypad technology that was used at the mayorís original summit to gather information from participants.

The mayorís office plans to send all participants in Novemberís summit a preliminary report that lists residentsí priorities and key themes discussed at the summit. The report also will be available on the Neighborhood Action Web site at www.neighborhoodaction.dcgov.org.

Residents may pre-register for the UDC forum either by calling (202) 727-0882 or by following registration directions online at the Neighborhood Action web site.
